MARKET UPDATE: Sensex rose 700 points to 57,260, while Nifty climbed 200 points to 17,150

The Indian benchmark indices extended their opening gains today(26 April 2022) as global markets reversed losses and oil prices continued retreat. The BSE Sensex rose 700 points to 57,260, while the NSE Nifty climbed 200 points to 17,150. All Sensex shares were in green, barring Asian Paints and Tech M. HUL, Maruti, IndusInd Bank, Bajaj Twins, M&M, Sun Pharma, Nestle, ITC and Axis Bank were the top gainers, rising up to 3 per cent. In the broader markets, the BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices were also in the positive territory, up to 1.4 per cent higher.

Sectorwise, Nifty Auto(up 2 per cent) was the winner, followed by Nifty FMCG and Realty, up to 1.9 per cent higher. Nifty Bank, Oil & Gas, PSBs, and Pharma were the other notable gainers.

Among stocks, Zee Learn cracked 15 per cent, and YES Bank rose 1 per cent. The bank has moved NCLT seeking initiation of insolvency proceedings against Zee Learn for a default of Rs 468 crores with respect to a financial facility.

Mahindra CIE Automotive surged 14 per cent on reporting strong Q4 results. The company posted a 18.22 per cent YOY growth in revenues at Rs 2,588.36 crore. The net profit for Q4 was up nearly 16-fold at Rs 161.43 crore.
